On January 10, 2011, General Walt Natynczyk, Canada's Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) attended the Grand Opening of Diamond Plaza, the new headquarters for The Yellowknife Company in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

Also in attendance at the opening of Diamond Plaza were Colonel Paul Bury, Commander of 41 CBG, Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Bradley, Commander of 1 ASU Edmonton, and the members of The Yellowknife Company and The Loyal Edmonton Regiment.

The event marks an important milestone, not only for the Yellowknife Company, the only permanent reserve unit north of 60, and 41 Canadian Brigade Group, but for the community of Yellowknife and the Army Reserve as a whole.

General Natynczyk's visit was part of a two day tour of the North. The tour provided an opportunity to meet with CF members and their families, observe collaborative relationships and achievements of the CF, and applaud the CF's contributions to Northern safety, security and defence.
